History

MG 3167In 1964, Belleville, Illinois native Jim Hoernis founded Hoernis Auto Body. After all these years, Hoernis' philosophy of high quality repairs, fair treatment to employees and vendors, and exceptional customer service is still in place today. Our business has grown into one of the largest and most respected collision repair centers in Southern Illinois.

The Beginning of a Family Tradition

Jim Hoernis first opened Hoernis Auto Body in 1964 at the former Richland Mills Company carriage and horse stable on Third Street in Belleville. Jim worked hard and grew the business by focusing on the latest technology available and personal customer service. From 1972-1999 the shop expanded twice, and was known for not only servicing individual customers, but also several other regional body shops. These shops contracted Hoernis to repair the new “unibody” designed vehicles that were new to the 80’s, as well as perform traditional heavy frame repairs and wheel alignments.

Through 1985-2000, Jim and all three of his children, Russ, Debbie, and Steve, worked together to expand the business and began looking for a new location to better serve their growing customer base. Hoernis Auto Body moved to 207 South 20th Street inBelleville in 2000. The new facility is designed and operated to process quality collision repairs efficiently. It is equipped with the technology and properly trained technicians needed to restore vehicles back to manufacturers’ standards.

Hoernis Auto Body works on almost all makes, domestic and foreign. Per Illinois State Law, Hoernis assists in hassle-free insurance claims through any property damage insurance company. (It’s Your Call).
